Bike paths, in seven cities direct links between railway stations and universities

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility informs in a note that it has arranged, by directorial decree, a loan of 4 million euros to plan the construction or enhancement of cycle paths that connect railway stations to universities in seven Italian cities. "It is only the first project which can be followed by further interventions with the allocation of additional funds", commented Minister Enrico Giovannini. The initiative is promoted together with the FS Group. The municipalities identified for this first phase (on the proposal of the ministry of the University) are Bari, Milan, Naples, Padua, Palermo, Pisa, Rome. The municipal administrations, in agreement with the universities, will create cycle paths, cyclostations and safety infrastructures. RFI will build bicycle parking areas at the stations and will install lighting, video surveillance and signage systems.
